Jesuit priest Emerito Salustiano “Salty” dela Rama, the headmaster of Ateneo de Manila Grade School, has died on Wednesday at the age of 60.
He was one of the persevering keep-the-faith voices of the Katipunan community during the COVID-19 pandemic as a resident reader and commentator in the Radyo Katipunan show's online masses.
Dela Rama had a heart condition, and succumbed "quite suddenly to what seems to have been heart failure," the Jesuit Residence at Ateneo de Manila said in their announcement on Facebook.
He was inside his office when he died.
His death was first confirmed by the Katipunan-based Jesuit community through the Radyo Katipunan page on Facebook.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the untimely demise of our beloved commentator and reader in our Keep the Faith masses, Reverend Father Emerito Salustiano ‘Salty’ dela Rama, SJ. He joined our Creator early this morning, March 24,” Radyo Katipunan said.
“The community will deeply miss you, your voice, your funny antics, your presence,” it added.
The university's official website also changed his page's banner in memoriam to the late headmaster.
