Health secretary Francisco Duque III on Friday received his first dose of the Sinovac vaccine in the city of Manila, as the government continued to urge the public to get jabbed.
Duque reported no immediate side effects or ails after getting the vaccine, but there is residual pain from the needle. "You can feel the injection pa," he told PTV.
Despite feeling no pain, Duque said he was still undergoing vaccine monitoring. "Baka mamaya, masasabi ko kung meron akong nararasan, minor adverse effects or minor side effects," he said.

When asked why he chose to receive the vaccine now, the secretary said he was waiting for other frontliners to go first.
"Unang-una, inintay kong mauna ang mayorya ng ating healthcare workers. So 'yun ang naging desisyon ko, nag-antay ako," he said.
