Hidilyn Diaz Gets Promoted to Air Force Staff Sergeant

For bringing pride and glory to the country.

Olympic Gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz was promoted in the Philippine Air Force following her historic win at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the military said Wednesday. 

Diaz moved up from sergeant to staff sergeant. She joined the Air Force via direct enlistment in 2013, three years before she won the silver in weightlifting in Rio in 2016.

"We laud and support this move at the General Headquarters to mark SSg Diaz’ remarkable achievements in the field of sports and for bringing pride and glory to our country," the Armed Forces of the Philippines said in a statement.
