IKEA Philippines said it would extend its highly anticipated Family Day until July 11 after its membership website crashed due to surge of visitors.
Instead of a one-day Family Day Raffle, where individuals who register within the first 24 hours stand a chance to win a P50,000 home makeover package, it will extend the promo until Saturday to give customers more time to sign up.
Signing up is free and online. There is no membership limit, and all sign-ups will be accepted from Wednesday onwards, it said.
"Thank you for bear-ing with us," IKEA's bear mascot Bjorn said.
Filipino fans of the DIY furniture maker from Sweden had difficulties signing up for the loyalty club starting Wednesday midnight due to "technical difficulties."
In a separate video post, IKEA Philippines store manager Georg Platzer apologized to the public, saying the company was hard at work to resolve the website issue.
"We are prepared to anticipate a 120,000 signups in the first hour but to all our surprise, we got 100,000 people who tried to sign up already in the very first minute," he said.
Platzer said the site would be up soon.
