IKEA Philippines apologized to customers after a surge in visitors crashed its website Wednesday, on the same day its membership program was scheduled for launch. It promised to be back "very soon".
Filipino fans of the DIY furniture maker from Sweden were having difficulties getting past the Personal Data Protection Notice, based on the comments section. Reportr staff also made several unsuccessful attempts to sign up for the loyalty club early Wednesday via website and mobile. So far, sign up attempts can't go beyond the Data Protection Notice and Membership Registration page.
"It's not you, it's us. We are experiencing a surge of site visitors at this time and our hardworking server is trying to let everybody in," IKEA Philippines said.
It asked Filipinos to keep refreshing the page to start again. Some of the netizens on the post's comments section said that after several attempts, they were able to sign up.
