President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday claimed that Sen. Imee Marcos was eyeing to be the vice presidential running mate of his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
The President said Marcos visited his daughter in Davao to discuss their election plans. Imee did visit Sara with her brother, ex-senator Bongbong Marcos, and later said that a Sara-Bongbong tandem would be a "marriage made in heaven".
"Si Imee ganito ang laro niyan. Pinuntahan n'ya si Mayor Duterte sa Davao hoping na magtakbo 'yun at siya ang maging bise," Duterte said in address taped late Monday and aired the following day.
President Duterte last week accepted his PDP-Laban partymates' endorsement to run for vice president. Sen. Bong Go, his longtime aide, on Monday turned down calls to run for president from the same faction of the party.
