Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said Monday he was willing to get vaccinated with China's Sinovac COVID-19 jab once government officials are allowed to be inoculated.
Moreno, who attended the launch program for the country's mass COVID-19 immunization program, said he would get vaccinated to soothe public doubts.
"Mapalad tayo na meron na tayo, huwag ninyo na sayangin. Vaccination is the solution to the nation," Moreno said in a speech.
"Pagkatapos mabakunahan ang mga medical frontliners, magpapabakuna ako ng Sinovac, magpapabakuna ako ng bakunang available sa lalong madaling panahon kapag kami ay pinayagan na ng regulasyon," he added.
The Philippines on Monday started its COVID-19 immunization program with Philippine General Hospital Director Dr. Gerardo Legaspi as the first recipient.

"We will get vaccinated para mahati ko kahit papaano ang inyong pangamba..Let's get vaccinated, let's save lives every day," Moreno said.
The Sinovac jabs, a donation from China, were distributed to government hospitals in Metro Manila after President Rodrigo Duterte received them at Villamor Airbase on Sunday.
The Philippines' mass immunization program roughly a year since it declared lockdowns to curb the spread of COVID-19.
