Parts of Luzon will experience moderate to heavy rains on Tuesday due to the southwest monsoon or habagat, as millions in the capital region prepare to go into lockdown at the end of the week.
A low pressure area is enhancing the habagat. It was spotted 615 kilometers north of extreme Northern Luzon at 4 a.m., and will dump rains over the Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales and Bataan in the next 24 hours, PAGASA weather forecaster Meno Mendoza said.
Expect occasional rains over Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Occidental Mindoro, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Cagayan Valley due to the habagat, he said.
The weather bureau is also monitoring two other tropical cyclones outside the Philippines, both located near extreme Northern Luzon. The tropical depression spotted at 920 km west of extreme Northern Luzon will enhance the habagat in the coming days, said Mendoza.
