President Rodrigo Duterte has declared May 13 a regular holiday in observance of Eid‘l Fitr, the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Filipino Muslims were urged to be mindful of COVID-19 protocols in observing the holiday.

“The entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr, subject to community quarantine, social distancing and other public health measures," the proclamation, signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea read.

Eid’l Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan for Muslims.
