Metro Manila will implement an eight-hour curfew starting Friday, Aug. 6 as the stricter enhanced community quarantine or ECQ takes effect, the MMDA said Monday.
The curfew will start at 8 p.m. and will end at 4 a.m., MMDA Chairman Benjamin Abalos said. Until Aug. 5, the curfew in the capital region is set at 10 p.m. until 4 a.m.
Authorities tightened quarantine restrictions across the country for the month of August in to control the spread of the more contagious Delta variant.
Stay-at-home orders were reinstated with the exemption of authorized persons outside of their residences.
