In the first five minutes of Netflix's "Trese" man-eating creatures from Filipino mythology ambush harried commuters as they get out of a stalled MRT train. The sneak peek heralds the return of classic horror characters for the streaming age.
The anime-inspired adaptation of the Filipino comic series of the same name is coming to Netflix on June 11 midnight. The streaming colossus released the opening scene of the English and Filipino versions.

The snippet showed the slums, with Filipino mythical creatures like the manananggal, a flying vampire-like creature that detaches her torso from her lower body, and siyokoy, green-skinned water creatures, lurking around.
It also showed protagonist Alexandra Trese in her first case in the series.
Titular character Trese will be voiced by Liza Soberano in Filipino and Filipina-Canadian actress Shay Mitchell for the English dub.
Jon Jon Briones, Manny Jacinto, Darren Criss, Nicole Scherzinger, and Lou Diamond Philips are part of the English version cast.
