1,766 COVID Cases Tallied As Country Eyes 5 Million Jabbed in 3 Days

The goal is to fully vaccinate 50 million Filipinos before 2021 ends.

The Philippines on Thursday tallied 1,766 new COVID-19 cases, as authorities prepared a "Vax to the Max" drive that would  vaccinate five million Filipinos in three days this November

The day's total brought the total active cases to 37,159. The Department of Health also reported 239 deaths and 2,591 recoveries.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the Philippines has a cumulative total of 2,795,642 cases, 43,825 deaths and 2,714,658 recoveries.

Vaccinations for minors has expanded in cities to cover kids without underlying conditions as Metro Manila remains under Alert Level 3 until Nov. 15. Curfew in Metro Manila has been lifted after 20 months, with movement of minors subjected to local government rules.

The Philippines is kicking COVID vaccinations "to the max" later in November, eyeing to vaccinate five million people over three days, vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. said Thursday. The goal is to fully vaccinate 50 million Filipinos before the year ends for a happy Christmas.
