Online registration for the national ID will start on April 30, the Philippine Statistics Authority said Wednesday.
Through the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys, Filipinos are given a valid proof of identity that contains both basic information and added security functions such as biometrics. The ID comes in physical and digital formats, and members of the system can use their unique PhilSys number as proof of identity.
Bank account applications, receipt of aid, and other identity verification processes are expected to be faster once the centralized ID system is in place.
