Palawan's famous Sheridan Beach Resort and Spa announced Thursday its closure effective March 20, a reflection of how the COVID-19 pandemic has badly hit tourism.
The luxury resort, located in Sabang, Puerto Princesa, thanked all of its guests and locals who have been a part of their journey.
“Through the years, it’s been our pride and joy to welcome travelers from all over the country and across the world who have come to experience the beauty and wonder of Palawan,” it said.
Sheridan also expressed hopes for the recovery of tourism. "The future is bright in Sabang. There’s no question that better opportunities still lie in wait for this small patch of paradise. Palawan beckons and people will continue to come," it said.
Tourism has been among the worst-hit industries of the COVID-19 pandemic as governments shut borders and limited travel.
In February, Makati Shangri-La Hotel closed its doors temporarily too due to financial difficulties brought about by the pandemic.
