Visitors of the recently reopened Intramuros in Manila can pay ticket fees via QR code using mobile wallet PayMaya to minimize contact as a precaution against COVID-19.
The Department of Tourism and the Intramuros Administration tapped PayMaya to provide cashless payment options via PayMaya QR to select sites such as Fort Santiago, Casa Manila Museum, and Baluarte de Santiago which reopened at limited capacity to the public last week.

To pay for tickets, visitors can scan the PayMaya QR code with their app which will deduct the exact amount.
"PayMaya fully supports the DOT's efforts to bolster safety in the domestic tourism industry as we chart our path toward economic recovery. With the help of cashless payments powered by PayMaya, local tourists and visitors in Intramuros and other local destinations can be assured that it's not just more fun but, more importantly, more convenient and safer to travel around the country at this time," said PayMaya founder and CEO Orlando B. Vea.

PayMaya's digital invoicing solution, which allows Visa, Mastercard, and JCB credit card transactions, is also being used for rental payments of merchants, permits, and other similar transactions.
To support the government's digital tourism program and #TravelSmart campaign, PayMaya also enabled government agencies such as the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority to accept cashless payments from local tourists. Tour operators and travel agencies were also tapped.
