In the second straight day of high case numbers, the Department of Health (DOH) reported a total of 1,494 new cases of COVID-19 today, July 4.
Of this total, 403 were considered by the DOH as fresh, while 1,091 were tallied as late.
It’s the second highest report of case numbers thus far in the country, second only to yesterday’s 1,531 new cases.
This puts the Philippine COVID-19 total at 41,830 confirmed cases.
Ten new deaths and 380 recoveries were also reported by the health agency.
In Davao City, a barangay was placed under a two-week lockdown beginning today, as 88 residents have tested positive for COVID-19, with two deaths thus far.
In beleaguered Cebu, 200 deaths have been reported as of July 3, 2020. Total number of cases in the Visayan city are at 5,824. Via its country representative Rabindra Abeyasinghe, the World Health Organization has said that compliance of quarantine protocols was “not optimum in Cebu.”
Metro Manila remains the area with the highest concentration of new cases, according to the DOH’s Saturday report.
