The Philippine Navy on Thursday deployed its second missile frigate, BRP Antonio Luna, as the military establishment moved to assert sovereignty in the face of China's moves in disputed waters.
The warship will be deployed to Naval Forces West, which has jurisdiction over the West Philippine Sea.
"I want you to know how much pride and honor you carry and magnify for the entire command by carrying the Philippine flag during your first and most challenging mission yet," said Rear Admiral Aldeus Bordado, the Navy Flag Officer in Command.
On Monday, the military chief, Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, visited the Filipino stronghold in the West Philippine Sea, Pag-Asa Island, rallying troops there to defend the country's territory.
