The Department of Health on Monday said it detected the country's fourth Omicron case, noting that all cases of the variant in the Philippines so far are imported.
The 38-year old woman arrived in the Philippines from the U.S. on Dec. 10 and was quarantined upon arrival. She experienced throat itchiness and colds by Dec. 13, said Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire.
She tested positive fore the virus on Dec. 15 and was released transfered from a government facility to home isolation by Dec. 24 when she was asymptomatic. She is scheduled for another swab test on Tuesday, Vergeire said.
The woman presented a negative pre-departure swab test result on Dec. 7, Vergeire told reporters. However, she was exposed to friends in the U.S. a day before she departed for the Philippines.
