Fabian Stirs Habagat, Bringing Rains to Central Philippines

Residents of the Mimaropa and Western Visayas regions should expect rains through most of Saturday as Tropical Depression Fabian continues to enhance the southwest monsoon, PAGASA said.

Fabian, the sixth storm of the year, was spotted 1,365 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon at around 4 a.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 70 kph, PAGASA said.

No storm warning signal has been raised so far. Fabian is unlikely to hit land and will intensify on its way out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility late Monday or early Tuesday, PAGASA said.

The public should monitor rainfall warnings, it said.
