It's officially the start of the world's longest Christmas season on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and COVID-19 quarantines will surely dictate how the holidays this year will be celebrated. At one of Manila's largest decor markets, Santa Claus is armed with a face mask.
The black mask doesn't exactly go with his signature, red, white and gold, but its a reminder for the public that missing a vaccine, they should wear a mask and face shield and keep at least one meter apart from other people.
One of the vendors, Jo Santos, prepared her store on Monday for holiday shoppers. Retail is allowed at limited capacity and shoppers must at all times wear face masks and face shields according to authorities. That's on top of handwashing and physical distancing.
