Skyway Stage 3 will remain open, San Miguel Corp President Ramon Ang said Tuesday, following what he described as a "misunderstanding" with the Toll Regulatory Board.

Ang said he secured Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade's commitment that the government would act on San Miguel's toll petition "with urgency and prudence."

The TRB, according to Ang, had not acted on San Miguel's toll petition despite reaching 97% completion of its ramps. He said a minimum 95% completion is needed before San Miguel is allowed to charge toll.

San Miguel served notice of an indefinite closure from 5 p.m. Tuesday, citing a TRB order. The TRB denied this.

Ang said the Skyway was operating at a loss because the TRB "keeps delaying the start of toll collection."
