Lacson-Sotto Ticket Reveals Possible Senate Bets

Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday revealed the names of the potential senatorial candidates running under his and Sen. Panfilo Lacson's banner.

Sotto who is running as vice president with Lacson as president listed 10 names for their senatorial lineup so far, of which five are incumbent senators while four are former Senate members. They are:

  • Former Sen. JV Ejercito
  • Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero
  • Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian
  • Sen. Richard Gordon
  • DICT Sec. Gringo Honasan
  • Former Comelec Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal
  • Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda
  • Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez
  • Sen. Joel Villanueva
  • Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri

Except for Honasan, Larrazabal, and Torres-Gomez, all names on the list have earlier expressed intention to run for senator in the 2022 elections.

The two remaining slots for their senatorial lineup are still open, Sotto told reporters, adding that he would consult his candidacy with Lacson as well as their senatorial lineup with his party, the Nationalist People's Coalition, in their meeting on July 28.

The Lacson-Sotto ticket is the first tandem to be confirmed for the 2022 elections. They will make their official launch on Aug. 4.
