Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Tito Sotto on Thursday started their consultations for their possible candidacies in 2022 as president and vice president, respectively.
"Started our journey for the Luzon consultative tour with a prayer. Besides, I go to church everyday anyway," Sotto told reporters as they visited Barasoain Church in Malolos, Bulacan.
According to Sotto's office, the consultative meetings in Luzon were meant to check the situation of local government units in the region and get suggestions for the post-pandemic recovery plan of the country.
Sotto said the team would visit Tarlac and Zambales on Thursday, and Pangasinan and La Union on Friday. They would also travel to the Ilocos provinces and Cagayan on Saturday. Similar consultative meetings are being planned in Visayas and Mindanao, he said.
Sotto earlier said he was considering running for vice president in the 2022 elections and would support Lacson if the latter decides to vie for the presidency.
Lacson, who said it's presidency or retirement for him in 2022, also gave the same support for Sotto. Should they both decide to run, their tandem for the next year's polls was already "cast in stone," he added.
