Don't fake COVID-19 test results to help stop the spread of the disease, the Department of Health said Friday after a Quezon City printing shop was caught forging such records in a viral video.
Police arrested two people over the footage that aired on GMA Network, Health Usec. Rosario Vergeire said. Looser quarantines means people are required at times to show proof of COVID-19 testing to travel or return to work.
“Dapat maintindihan din ng mga tao ‘yung pag-fake niyan might cause the further transmission of diseases if we do that (The public should realize that faking COVID-19 test results might cause the further transmission of diseases if we do that),” she said.
Local authorities running the tests should secure the release of results to avoid mishandling, Vergeire said. Security features like barcodes will help, she said.
The Department of Health will coordinate with local officials to precent a repeat of the incident, she said. The forged results were for rapid tests, which detect antobodies in the blood.
