Hidilyn Gets Love From 'Team Diaz' Gloria and Ogie

Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz got a congratulatory message from former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, as the pageant legend acknowledged memes that highlighted their common last name and their status as the First Filipina winners in their respective fields.

Hidilyn Diaz ended the Philippines' 97-year-long wait for its first Olympic gold medal on Monday, also setting a world rweightlifting record in Tokyo. Gloria Diaz was the first Filipina Miss Universe in 1969, charming judges with her response to a question on the first moon landing that same year.

Talent manager and radio host Ogie Diaz joined in the fun. He's a Diaz too and wants to share in some family love, though they are not related by blood.

"I am a langaw na nakatungtong sa kalabaw, congrats HIDILYN," Gloria Diaz said along with a screenshot of a post which pointed out that the two Diaz women.

Ogie Diaz greeted his "bunsong kapatid" Hidilyn on Facebook. "Ikaw ang magandang balita ngayong araw," he said.

He also posted a Team Diaz picture with Hidilyn and Gloria, and another meme-able photo of the Olympic weightlifter's winning stance with his face on it.

"Hiyang-hiya na ako sa bunso kong kapatid na si Hidilyn. Imbes na siya 'yung naba-viral dahil sa karangalang ipinagkaloob niya sa Pinas, pati itong pic na ito ???? ayaw pakabog," he said.
