WATCH: Ingenious Ulam Drive-Thru Rises in Bulacan

Jako's Ulam is all about your favorite Filipino dishes.

Sick of the usual fastfood drive-thru chains, Ricca del Rosario and her husband imagined what it would be like having a drive-by karendirya that serves their favorite Filipino dishes—from dinuguan to sisig. 

Seeing how their main business was not "pandemic-proof," the couple went ahead and opened Jako's Ulam, a one of a kind, located in Malolos, Bulacan.

"Etong nagkaroon ng Jako's, medyo nagkaroon kami ng magandang-magandang fallback kasi 'pag food, talagang hindi siya mawawala kahit ano mangyari. Kailangan lang talaga laging nag-aadjust," said del Rosario, a former online seller. Her husband works in construction.

Although more expensive than the usual karendirya, del Rosario said they tried their best to lower prices while making sure the food and its packaging remained up to quality. With her uncle as the cook, Jako's serves Filipino dishes like dinuguan, bistek, kalderetang baka, kare-kare, adobong isaw, and pork sisig, among others, with a P90 to P250 price range. They also have Filipino inspired milk tea flavors like buko pandan and ube.

Since its establishment in December of 2020, the drive-thru proved to be a hit, with the couple mulling franchise operations so others can replicate.
