Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Monday said 215 street sweepers would get paid roughly double their salaries starting next year.

Salaries will be increased to P12,000 per month from a range of P5,000 to P8,000 as long as the workers fulfill the required hours. Their previous rates were based on work for five to eight-month periods.

A total of 215 employees from the City Environment and Natural Resources Office and Solid Waste Management Office, majority of which are street sweepers, now work full-time for 8 hours a day, Sotto said in a Facebook post.

They are among 547 workers who will receive salary increases starting next year.
