(UPDATE) The Commission on Elections on Wednesday said voter registration activities would resume in areas under MECQ on Sept. 6.
The Commission En Banc approved the resumption of voter registration in MECQ areas from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays including holidays, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said.
Sign-ups in Comelec partner malls in MECQ areas will also be allowed, he said.
Voter registration activities have been suspended in areas under ECQ and MECQ since the two strictest community quarantine classifications were reimposed in August. Metro Manila and other high risk areas will remain under MECQ until Sept. 7.
To accommodate more applications ahead of the 2022 elections, Comelec on Aug. 23 implemented extended voter registration hours.
The commission also allowed online reactivation of voter status for those who have complete biometrics in the local Comelec office where their application was filed.
The deadline for voter registration stays on Sept. 30.
