Multiple weather systems including a low pressure area off Palawan was expected to bring more rains to large parts of the country on Thursday, weather bureau PAGASA said.
In Marikina City, where Super Typhoon Rolly caused massive flooding last November, residents kept vigil overnight as the water level at the Marikina River rose to the second highest in a three-step system.
The alert was down to Level 1 at daybreak, according to the Marikina City public information office.
At 3 a.m., the low pressure area was located 210 kilometers south southwest of Puerto Princesa City, PAGASA said. This is exacerbated by the inter-tropical convergence zone or ITCZ, where winds north and south of the equator meet, and the tail-end of a frontal system, of the intersection of warm and cold air.
