Severe Tropical Storm Bising (Surigae) has intensified into a typhoon, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday as it warned of heavy rains in the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas this weekend.
Bising intensified into a typhoon at around 8 a.m. Friday and is forecast to become stronger over the next three days according to PAGASA. The typhoon however is "less likely" to make landfall in any part of the country.
As of 10 a.m. Friday, the center of the typhoon was located based on all available data at 960 km east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, and packs maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gusts of up to 160 kph.

PAGASA said winds and heavy rains brought by the typhoon would likely be experienced in Bicol and Eastern Visayas starting Sunday. But tropical cyclone wind signal #1 may be raised over some localities in Northern Samar and Eastern Samar as early as Friday night, it added.
Small boats venturing out to sea near the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao are advised to take precaution.
