11,681 New Cases, 55,204 Recoveries as NCR Bubble is Placed Under MECQ

The Philippines confirmed 11,681 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, as the lockdown or ECQ in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces was downgraded one notch to MECQ.

This brought the total number of active cases to 146,519 and the cumulative total to 864,868. There were 201 deaths and 55,204 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the overall totals to 14,945 and 703,404 respectively.

After midnight on Sunday, Sen. Bong Go released new photos of President Rodrigo Duterte, sayng the public should "watch out" for his return. The 76-year-old leader has largely shunned the public eye for two weeks to avoid getting sick, according to his aides.

Further details on the 2021 MECQ will be released on Monday, the first day of implementation. It will last until April 30.
