The Department of Trade and Industry said a digital proof of vaccination could be rolled out "in a few weeks" from Friday, as authorities start basing restrictions on immunization status.
Earlier in the day, stay-at-home orders were lifted for vaccinated senior citizens who have been cooped at home since the pandemic started in March last year. This applies to areas under the two lowest quarantines -- GCQ and MGCQ.
Pending the digital vaccine pass, vaccination cards issued by local governments will suffice as proof of immunization, Trade Sec. Ramon Lopez said.
"Very soon, I think in a few weeks, mga one month ay mabubuo na rin itong digital card natin — hopefully, a QR code also. System kung saan centralized, consolidated na, and digital form 'yung ating vaccine ID," Lopez said.
"In effect, authenticated na sila’y nabakunahan," he said.

The catch-all identification card in lieu of the local government-issued one was recently touted by the country's business sector, as authorities moved to ease movement restrictions for vaccinated Filipinos.
Primarily seen as a way to inspire hesitant Filipinos to get vaccinated, the increased mobility given by such card will help the economy bounce back, Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion earlier said.
