While most cities and towns require indigent Filipino families to line up for cash aid during the pandemic, Biñan City in Laguna is delivering assistance right at the doorstep of its residents to minimize the risk of contracting COVID-19.

The city government unit only requires qualified recipients to wait in front of their homes for the distribution of cash assistance.

Residents can check if they are qualified for the aid through the city's Facebook page and website, where schedules of distribution are also posted.

"This is the best time para ipadama natin sa mga tao na may gobyerno. Hindi naman pera lang ang mahalaga, yung madama nila na abot sila ng gobyerno hanggang sa mismong bahay nila at hindi sa sa gitna ng init ng araw sila pipila," Biñan Mayor Arman Dimaguila said in a Facebook post.

Some P23 billion was set aside by the national government for the distribution of aid in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal -- areas that were placed under lockdown or ECQ for two weeks, before being downgraded one notch to MECQ until April 30.

Each person can receive P1,000 and not more than P4,000 per family, according to government guidelines.
