Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is "not interested" in running for president with her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, as her vice president, a spokesperson for her Hugpong ng Pagbabago party said Monday.

A daughter-father Duterte-Duterte ticket in 2022 is "not really something she's interested in," Hugpong's Anthony Del Rosario said of Duterte-Carpio.

"So if it is really the case wherein President Digong will run for vice president in 2022, then in all likelihood, you will probably see another presidential candidate aligned with President Digong for 2022," Del Rosario, former governor of Davao del Norte, told ANC.

Some of Duterte's partymates in PDP-Laban earlier adopted a resolution urging him to run for vice president next year and choose his possible running mate. The President later said that running for vice president was "not at all a bad idea."

If President Duterte decides to vie for the second-highest government post next year, Duterte-Carpio may still not vie for the presidency even if she runs under a different party, Del Rosario said.

"It doesn't really depend on the party. It's just the old principle behind it. Kasi may problema sa check and balance, and the mayor is very aware of that. As she mentioned earlier, a Duterte-Duterte tandem is not really something that she's in favor of," he added.

Duterte-Carpio has not firmed up her decision about running for president in 2022, Del Rosario said. There is also no final running mate for her yet, he added.

Former defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez have earlier expressed openness to be Duterte-Carpio's running mate if she decides to run for president.

"I guess at this point, we're really waiting to see as what is the decision when it comes to the presidency before we can move on and discuss about the vice presidential candidate," Del Rosario said.
