Tropical Depression Florita moves closer to land on Monday, first day of school, bringing rains in parts of Luzon and Visayas as it intensifies the southwest monsoon or habagat, said PAGASA.
Florita, the sixth storm of 2022, was located 310 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora at 3 a.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph with 70 kph gusts. It is seen to intensify into a tropical storm within 24 hours, weakening as it crosses land, the state weather bureau said.
It is seen to make landfall in the east coast of Cagayan or northern Isabela Tuesday afternoon. It may also make landfall in Babuyan Island by Tuesday evening or Wednesday early morning before emerging over West Philippine Sea.
