Severe Tropical Storm Florita (Ma-on) will continue to stir monsoon rains over large parts of the country as it exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Wednesday, PAGASA said.
Classes in all levels and work in government offices were suspended for two days from Tuesday, as heavy rains inundated Metro Manila and surrounding provinces.

Florita, the sixth storm of 2022, was spotted 335 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan at 4 a.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 115 kph. It continues to move west northwest at 30 kph.
Moderate to heavy rains are expected over Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet until this morning, as well as light to moderate with at times heavy rains over the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region.
Through the afternoon, light to moderate with at times heavy rains may occur over Ilocos Region.
Signal No. 1 (Strong winds prevailing or expected within 36 hours) remains hoisted over:
- Batanes
- Babuyan Islands
- The western portion of mainland Cagayan (Claveria, Santa Praxedes, Sanchez-Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros, Allacapan, Aparri, Lasam, Santo Niño, Rizal)
- Apayao
- Abra
- The western portion of Kalinga (Balbalan, Pasil, Tinglayan)
- The western portion of Mountain Province (Bauko, Tadian, Besao, Sagada, Sabangan, Bontoc, Sadanga)
- The northern and western portions of Benguet (Mankayan, Bakun, Kibungan, Kapangan, Tublay, La Trinidad, Sablan, Tuba, Baguio City, Atok)
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
Florita is forecast to move towards the southern portion of China, where it is expected to make landfall on Thursday morning or early afternoon. It could also reintensify and reach typhoon category on Wednesday night.
