Globe and TM users can switch subscriptions without changing their mobile numbers starting Wednesday, the Ayala-led telco said ahead of the full implementation of the Mobile Number Portability Act this year.

Subscribers of Globe and TM can switch from postpaid to prepaid, prepaid to postpaid, and from Globe prepaid to TM prepaid without the need to change their existing mobile numbers.

“Enabling our customers with the freedom to move across subscription types while allowing them to retain their original mobile number creates a new level of experience,” said Issa Guevarra-Cabreira, Globe chief commercial officer.

To apply for the switch, subscribers can visit the nearest Globe store or log in to their GlobeOne account. Globe myBusiness customers may check if their number is eligible for MNP via the GlobeOne app.

The Mobile Number Portability Act is set to be fully implemented in September this year. Once in effect, the law would allow mobile phone users to switch carriers while keeping their existing mobile numbers.
