2022 ELECTIONS

  • All eyes are on Comelec today as the period of candidacy substitution for the 2022 elections ends. Planning to beat the deadline is President Rodrigo Duterte, who said he would run for vice president.
  • If the 76-year-old incumbent would indeed seek the vice presidency, he would be running against his own daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
  • Duterte said he couldn’t understand why his daughter opted to run for vice president when she was clearly leading the surveys.
  • After she filed her vice presidential bid, Duterte-Carpio was adopted as the running mate of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos.
  • In yet another plot twist, Duterte’s top aide Sen. Bong Go dropped his vice presidential bid to run for president instead under the PDDS party.
  • Despite all these last-minute substitutions, Vice President Leni Robredo was unfazed as she danced to Taylor Swift’s 22 to show just how chill she was.
  • Retired PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar is running for senator under the Lacson-Sotto ticket.

  • Metro Manila will stay under Alert Level 2 until the end of November as Malacañang released the alert-based quarantine classifications for the rest of the country.
