President Rodrigo Duterte is in Davao City Monday and enjoyed a meal with his family at his home, according to a photo released by his long-time aide, Sen. Christopher "Bong" Go. He is scheduled to address the nation later in the evening on the fate of strict virus quarantines in the capital.
Go said he released the photo to dispel "fake news" about the 75-year-old leader. One of his Cabinet ministers, Interior Sec. Eduardo Ano, tested positive for coronavirus for the second time, triggering heightened precautions among Palace officials.
The President was with common-law-wife, Honeylet Avanceña and their teenage daughter, Kitty Duterte, in what looked like the kitchen and dining area of their home. The family shared a plate of fruits, what appeared to be mangoes, dragon fruit and pomelo slices, a Davao signature fruit.
The spread also included vienna sausages. Avanceña showed to the camera a copy of the Manila Bulletin's Monday edition with the day's headline. The couple also shared dark-colored drinks with ice.
