A Magnitude 5 earthquake rocked a coastal town in Surigao Del Sur on Sunday afternoon, Phivolcs said as it warned residents that aftershocks may follow.
The earthquake struck 14 kilometers south of Cagwait at 3:14 p.m. and had a depth of 26 kilometers, the agency said. It was also tectonic in origin.
Intensity III, where the earthquake was felt by many people indoors especially on upper floors of buildings, was reported in Bislig City in Surigao Del Sur.
Instrumental intensities were also recorded as follows:
- Intensity II - Surigao City; Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; Abuyog, Leyte
- Intensity I - Cagayan de Oro City
