Strong Earthquake Jolts Occidental Mindoro, Felt in Parts of Luzon

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro on early Monday morning, PHIVOLCS said, with the tremor felt in parts of Luzon.

The quake hit at 1:12 a.m. and struck 23 kilometers northeast of the town of Looc. It had a depth of 74 kilometers according to PHIVOLCS.

Aftershocks and damages are expected, PHIVOLCS said. Thousands who felt the earthquake made the hashtags #EarthquakePH and #lindol trending in the wee hours of the morning.

The following are the reported intensities:
Intensity V - Tagaytay City; Amadeo, Cavite
Intensity IV - Malolos City and Obando, Bulacan, City of Manila, Marikina City; San Mateo, Rizal, Las Pinas City; General Trias and Tanza, Cavite; San Juan City
Intensity III - Quezon City; Pasig City; Makati City, City of Antipolo, Rizal; Valenzuela City
Intensity II - Palayan City, Nueva Ecija

Instrumental Intensity:
Intensity V - Tagaytay City
Intensity I - Palayan City, Nueva Ecija
