Meralco said Friday said it is working to restore electricity to areas affected by power outages brought about by Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco).

As of 11 a.m., there are 453,349 customers that still don't have electricity in parts of Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, and Quezon Province. This was down from 3.8 million the day before, said Meralco spokesman Joe R. Zaldarriaga.

Zaldarriga said the restoration might take longer for areas with severe flooding and areas where Meralco's distribution facilities suffered heavy damage. These include fallen poles, downed wires, and damaged transformers.

He assured subscribers that line crews were working round the clock to bring power back as soon as possible.
