The pilot run of the COVID-19 alert level system in Metro Manila will be extended until Oct. 15, Malacañang said Thursday while the rest of the country would continue to implement community quarantines.

Metro Manila's alert level remains under  Alert Level 4 according to Trade Sec. Ramon Lopez, which means that COVID-19 case counts are high and/or increasing, and there are high utilization rates for total hospital beds and ICUs.

The government's inter-agency task force on COVID-19 pandemic response also approved the 10% increase in capacity of dine-in services in restaurants, religious gatherings, and personal care services under Alert Level 4 in Metro Manila, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

Gyms and fitness studios will also be allowed to operate at a 20% capacity but only for fully vaccinated individuals. Gym workers, according to Roque, should also be fully vaccinated.

"Both clients and service providers shall also wear face mask at all times and no group activities will be allowed," Roque said.
