4,043 Cases Logged As Metro Manila Remains Under Alert Level 3

The Philippines on Friday logged 4,043 new COVID-19 cases as the National Capital Region remains under Alert Level 3 until Nov. 15, with more areas shifting to the alert-based quarantine system.

The day's tally brought active cases to 50,630. The Department of Health also reported 3,224 new recoveries and 44 deaths

Overall, a total of 2,779,943 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the pandemic began in March 2020, of which 2,686,692 have recovered and 42,621 died.

Alert Level 3 in Metro Manila was extended until Nov. 14 with eased restrictions for transportation and fully vaccinated indivudials. Cemeteries nationwide are closed from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 to prevent crowds during the Day of the Dead.

Several tourist destinations nationwide have eased restrictions for vaccianted tourists, with fully vaccinated tourists allowed to present vaccination certificates in place of RT-PCR test results.

The country has a goal of 1.5 million daily vaccinations for a "happy Christmas" vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. said as more jabs arrive. At least 50 million Filipinos are expected to be fully vaccinated by the end of 2021.
