The Philippines on Saturday reported 4,008 new COVID-19 cases as Filipinos prepared to mark their second Undas or Day of the Dead during the pandemic.
The day's tally brought active cases to 47,690, with 6,887 new recoveries and 423 new deaths.
Since the pandemic started, the Philippines has reported a total of 2,783,896 COVID-19 cases, of which 2,693,162 have recovered and 43,044 have died.
Cemeteries across the country are closed until Nov. 2 to prevent crowding for Undas.
The Philippines has a goal of 1.5 million daily vaccinations for a "happy Christmas" vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. said. So far, some 26 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against a target of 50 million before Christmas.
