The Philippines on Saturday reported 7,689 new COVID-19 cases, the fifth straight day that the daily jump was below the 10,000-mark.
The day's tally brought total active cases to 136,436. The Department of Health also reported 22,539 recoveries and just one death. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the country has had a cumulative total of 3,601,471 COVID cases.
The positivity rate was at 23.3% meaning that for every 10 tests, at least two returned positive.
From Feb. 10, returning Filipinos who are fully vaccinated will only need a negative RT-PCR test result within 48 hours from departure to enter the country. They will not be required to quarantine in a government facility.
The government will also start administering reformulated Pfizer vaccines to children aged 5 to 11 from Feb. 7.
