Private schools can already start classes for school year 2021 to 2022 still using blended learning, the Department of Education said Friday, emphasizing the prohibition on face-to-face classes.
The DepEd however has yet to announce the start of classes for public schools for S.Y. 2021-2022.
Classes may start “provided that there are no face-to-face classes, and that the school will be strictly implementing only distance learning modalities,” the DepEd said.
Private schools and non-DepEd public schools intending to start classes ahead of the general school opening are required to submit the relevant documents to the DepEd regional director.
Earlier this week, DepEd said it was looking at three dates for the possible start of classes in public schools: Aug. 23, Sept. 6, or Sept. 13.
The DepEd earlier proposed to resume face-to-face classes in areas classified as low-risk for COVID-19 transmission but President Rodrigo Duterte rejected the proposal, citing the risks posed to students and teachers.
