Vice President Leni Robredo said Wednesday she was self-isolating after one of her office staff tested positive for COVID-19.

Robredo said she started isolating on Tuesday after the staff member, whom she was a "very close contact", developed symptoms.

The Vice President said she would undergo RT PCR testing on Aug. 30, the seventh day from the exposure, in compliance with government rules. Even if she tests negative, she will have to continue her self-isolation until the 14th day of her last exposure, she said.

"Unfortunately, I  need to have myself excused in the activities I have committed myself to. Apologies to everyone who may be affected by this," Robredo said, noting she will continue working from home during the entire period.

This is the fourth time the vice president submitted herself to self-isolation after being in contact with a COVID patient.
