Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Wednesday dismissed as "chismis" (gossip) the claims of Special Envoy to China Ramon Tulfo that she would run for vice president.

Tulfo said Duterte-Caprio wanted to "unsettle" her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, and "upset" his bet Sen. Bong Go. In the column titled "Plan C", Tulfo said there was an alternate plan for Go to run as vice president to presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

"Nandun na tayo na karamihan sa atin ay Marites pero yung isusulat ang CHISMIS at ipapalabas na ito ay totoong nangyari ay nakaka lalaki na," Duterte-Carpio said in a Facebook post.

Plan A, according to Tulfo, was Go-Duterte tandem while plan B was a tandem of Duterte-Carpio and Go, according to Tulfo. Duterte-Caprio repeatedly refused calls to run for president and over the weekend met with the only son and namesake of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos. The President's daughter denied rumors of a supposed tandem with Marcos for the 2022 elections.

The Davao City mayor called out Tulfo, saying he is among men who look down upon women as mere emotional beings instead of logical ones.

"Sa buhay ninyo huwag niyo hayaan na kayo ay bastusin dahil sa edad, kasarian o paniniwala. Wag niyo payagan na kayo ay Tulfohin," she said.

In a letter to the editor published by philstar.com on Wednesday, Duterte-Carpio said she deserved an apology from The Philippine Star and Tulfo "however, I am not expecting."

"Mr. Tulfo’s article should be found not in any of the main pages of The Philippine STAR – unless The Philippine STAR is a rumormonger publication or a tabloid that serves people like Mr. Tulfo," said Duterte-Carpio, who filed for reelection as Davao City mayor.

Her father's political party PDP-Laban has fielded Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa as its standard-bearer for the 2022 polls, who has repeatedly said that he is willing to be substituted by Duterte-Carpio.

Substitution of candidates is permitted until Nov. 15, 2021.
