After 23 years, The Chocolate Kiss Cafe will stop baking cakes for good—the latest in a slew of well-loved businesses that fully succumbed to the pandemic.
Fondly referred to as "ChoKiss" by the UP community, the pastry shop which started out as a "modest side-business" for its founders will be selling cakes only until June 22.
"No one planned for this “side-line” to build its own Commissary, nor grow into a 23-year old Café. How far it has come; how much we’ve experienced!," Chokiss said in a statement.
Since August of last year, ChoKiss scaled down its offerings, serving only desserts and pastries via its commissary in Fairview, Quezon City after it permanently closed its restaurant located in UP Bahay ng Alumni.
After much struggle to survive, "the ride is almost over" it said, thanking customers for the past two decades.
"The past year of navigating through the lockdowns was quite exciting, but sadly, not sustainable, which has prompted us to wind things down…" Chokiss said.
"In behalf of everyone who was part of The Chocolate Kiss family, we thank you for making us part of your celebrations, and your lives. We’ve built so many good memories over the years, and we only want to leave you with happy thoughts," it added.
Until its last day, ChoKiss said customers can still order through the website with two days lead notice.
